The latest in high efficiency gas furnaces is now available. This latest achievement from Frigidaire marks another milestone by this great company. The modulation is from 15% to 100% and this translates into greater efficiency and bettter indoor comfort, more even temperatures.
Here is how the new modulation works, for those of us who enjoy the tech talk!:
The FG7MQ modulating furnace uses an advance time modulation technology, which sets the Frigidaire modulating furnace a part from the competition and achieves an industry leading modulation range of 15% to 100%. This is how it works:

On the first eleven stages of the modulation, we use a standard gas valve modulation. This brings the furnace down to as low as 50% of the total capacity of the furnace. The reason we stop modulating the gas valve at this point is: you cannot modulate a gas valve lower than 50% on a forced air furnace and guarantee the furnace will produce a proper burn 100% of the time. Thus, the Frigidaire method of modulating past the 50% barrier (explained in step two) is the best way to effectively modulate a furnace.

In the next five steps, which will modulate the furnace down to 15% of capacity, we use a modulating method, unique to our product, called “Timed Proportioning Modulation”. This high tech term really means that our controlling system has been actively monitoring your house every 60 seconds, to learn how your home has been adapting to the weather outside. Our system will now operate the furnace based on a series of calculations. These calculations, time proportion the cycling of the furnace to achieve the most efficient way for the furnace to operate, in order to maintain the desired temperature the home owner wants to maintain in the home.
